Institutional Overview

Mawlai’s School of Technology (MST), Shillong, is an AICTE-approved Central University Institute established under the Central University Act, 2009. The institution was founded to address the growing demand for advanced technical and scientific education in the Northeastern region of India. Functioning under the Central University Institute (CUI), MST embodies a vision of innovation-driven learning, social responsibility, and inclusive education.

Over the years, MST has evolved into a multi-disciplinary academic hub offering undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in engineering, technology, applied sciences, and management. The institute’s academic model integrates research collaboration, industry partnerships, and experiential learning to produce graduates who are globally competitive and ethically responsible.

Academic Governance

MST operates under the academic and administrative supervision of the Central University Institute (CUI). The university follows a transparent governance structure aligned with AICTE regulations and the National Education Policy (NEP 2020). Academic programs, research initiatives, and institutional collaborations are monitored by a Governing Council and Academic Senate.

Affiliated Institutions

MST extends its academic influence through 17 affiliated colleges across Meghalaya and neighboring states. These institutions offer diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate programs, ensuring accessibility to quality education across the region.

Research & Innovation

The MST Centre for Research and Innovation (CRI) fosters a collaborative environment where students and faculty engage in applied research projects supported by government and industry partners such as DRDO, ISRO, and MNRE. The focus areas include renewable energy, AI systems, VLSI design, and sustainable infrastructure.
