Profile

Prof. (Dr.) Rina Kharkongor is the current Vice-Chancellor of Mawlai’s School of Technology (MST), Shillong, an AICTE-approved Central University Institute. With a distinguished academic career spanning over 25 years, she has made significant contributions to engineering education, research, and higher education administration.

Dr. Kharkongor holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from IIT Guwahati and a Master’s in Instrumentation Technology from North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU). Her research focuses on renewable energy systems, embedded technology, and digital automation. She has published over 60 research papers in international journals and guided 12 Ph.D. scholars.

Under her leadership, MST has launched new programs in Artificial Intelligence, Renewable Energy, and Advanced Manufacturing Systems, promoting innovation-driven learning aligned with India’s “Skill Development Mission”.


Academic Achievements

  • Awarded “Women in STEM Excellence Award” (2023) by Ministry of Education, Govt. of India.
  • Served as Dean (Academic Affairs) at National Institute of Technology, Silchar (2018–2022).
  • Authored three textbooks in Instrumentation and Control Engineering.
  • Member of AICTE Academic Advisory Board, Northeast Region.
